Borough Market
Our first stop is the famous Borough Market, to grab a bite to eat!
It is located centrally near London Bridge (not the same as Tower Bridge) and stands out as a culinary hub that offers a wide range of gourmet delights and locally sourced produce. As a historic and well-established fresh food market, it serves as a vibrant melting pot of flavors, featuring artisanal goods, seasonal local produce, and delicious street food from around the globe. Pick your favorites and enjoy the vibes in a beautiful historical and architectural backdrop. It is a must-visit for foodies, locals, and tourists alike.
We found that almost all places use credit cards, but it is always a good idea to have some local currency on hand.
Don’t forget to check out the Southwark Cathedral next door (free and beautiful to visit)!

In order to do this you have to take a short train ride to Little Venice first.

When we were there, the guards were practicing for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and thus the event was quite spectacular with special appearances from the royal family during their dress rehearsal!

After capturing the guard ceremony, be sure to explore Buckingham Palace. It is a royal treat for visitors to London. While guided tours may have limited availability (always check the official website for updated information), seize the opportunity to marvel at the exterior's grandeur. Be sure to stroll through St. James's Park to absorb the royal ambiance and capture memorable photos of the palace's majestic facade.

If you're planning to catch a West End show, visit the TKTS booth in Leicester Square for discounted last-minute tickets.
Day 4: Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Greenwich via Boat
Visit Tower Bridge: Iconic London Landmark
Explore Tower Bridge, an iconic London attraction that beautifully blends history and engineering. It is truly a marvel! A ticketed entry will allow you to go inside, check out the exhibits, and walk the mesmerizing Glass Walkway for a unique view of the Thames River. It is easy to be mesmerized here! Most people tend to spend a hour here.

Tower of London: Royal History Unveiled
Delve into the rich history of the Tower of London, another iconic London landmark. Take time to explore royal heritage through beautiful exhibitions, and best of all, witness the magnificent Crown Jewels up close.
We recommend a short tour to bring to life England's regal past as you walk around. A guided tour is about 1 hour (given by the Yeoman Warder) and is so informative! Most people tend to spend 2.5-3 hours taking everything in. Of course, check hours of operation and update information online.

Thames Clipper to Greenwich
Another cool way to travel through London and bypass street traffic is by water! You will find the port right as you exit the Tower of London. Rest your feet and enjoy the scenic ride to our next stop!
Afternoon in Greenwich
Do all or just one. If you make it here, we highly recommend doing the Greenwich Observatory, the rest is up to your interests!
Greenwich Market
Right on the bank of the Thames, this is a great place for snacks of unique finds from local vendors.
Greenwich Observatory: Time's Epicenter
The Greenwich Observatory, home of the Prime Meridian, stands as a symbol of timekeeping history. Explore this iconic location and experience its rich heritage, while standing at the center of time and space. The observatory also offers some breathtaking views. This is a ticketed entry, check for updated hours online.
Cutty Sark: Sailing Through Time
Admire the beauty from the outside. You can also choose to step abroad and take a journey back in time exploring the iconic ship and learning about its history.
Afternoon Tea in Greenwich
Afternoon tea in London is a cherished tradition, featuring a selection of fine teas, finger sandwiches with various fillings, warm scones served with clotted cream and jam, and an array of delectable pastries and cakes. This elegant experience is often presented on tiered trays in stylish settings, from historic hotels to charming tea rooms. Beyond the culinary delights, afternoon tea offers a leisurely and social ambiance, making it a delightful way to unwind and indulge in British culture.
Try it out in Greenwich, and for ship lovers you can even have this experience onboard the Cutty Sark! Other popular spots include Meridian Lounge - InterContinental London The O2, River Garden’s Cafe, Tudor Barn Eltham, and Queen's House Café.
If you are not in the mood for tea, check out the various cafe, pubs, and delicacies offered in Greenwich.

Day 5: St. Paul’s Cathedral, British Museum, Kensington Palace, Covent Gardens

St. Paul's Cathedral stands as an iconic symbol of London's skyline, a masterpiece of architectural brilliance. Explore the rich history and serene chapels within its grand walls. Don't forget to climb the iconic dome and witness London's charm from above with panoramic views. We suggest getting here early morning to avoid long lines!
British Museum: A World of Timeless Treasures
Just less than 15 minutes away, we have this iconic museum that is a must-visit!
The British Museum, a cultural jewel in the heart of London, is a treasure trove of history, art, and human heritage. Its vast collection spans continents, housing iconic artifacts like the Rosetta Stone.
It’s a free museum but may require online reservations. Please check the opening hours and updated information on the official site. We were able to go on a day the museum was open later and thus enjoy the Convent Garden area before and after! Highly recommend a guided tour of this museum as well or an audioguide at the very least.
Now we will take a short train (tube) journey to Kensington (about 30 minutes). Taking the tube is also very iconic in London!
Kensington Palace: A Royal Residency and a Tribute to Princess Diana
Kensington Palace, situated in the heart of London, is not only a royal residence but also a place of historical significance, forever linked to Princess Diana. Explore the opulent State Apartments, once home to Queen Victoria, and check out the captivating stories of its former residents. Stroll through the picturesque Kensington Gardens and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this historic palace.
Kensington Palace offers a unique and immersive experience into the lives of the British monarchy. We recommend at least an audioguide or a guided tour to truly bring this palace to life. Be sure to check the official site for opening hours. Most people tend to spend about 1-2 hours here.
Royal Albert Hall: London's Iconic Cultural Stage
This is a hub of cultural excellence and artistic expression and even offers tours for those interested. Otherwise, enjoy the architecture from the outside as you stroll this area.
Now we make our way to Convent Garden via train to explore the area for the rest of the evening.
Covent Garden and Surrounding Delights: London's Cultural Heart
Covent Garden, nestled in the heart of London's West End, is a vibrant and historic district that brims with culture, entertainment, and shopping. Enjoy the street performers, boutique shops, and charming cafes, a lively atmosphere.
Stroll through the iconic Apple Market and explore the hidden gem of Neal's Yard, a kaleidoscope of colors and flavors.
Covent Garden and its surroundings are a true representation of London's rich diversity, where history meets contemporary creativity and every visit is a memorable experience. A great area to enjoy food and drinks!
Day 6: Windsor Castle and Eaton- Day Trip + Night Adventure
Start your day early by 9 am to leave enough time to make sure you get to witness the Windsor Castle changing of the guards. This is usually around 11 am (please check online on the official website for official results).
The train ride is 1 hour from London via Paddington. There are some other options available but in general, we would allot for 1 hour from Central London to Windsor.

Windsor Castle
Once you get to the castle, check in, and get oriented. A visit to Windsor Castle promises a royal adventure filled with history, culture, and majestic surroundings. Did you know that Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world? Take in the views and snap all the photos you want on this Royal experience!
Changing of the Guard
Witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Windsor Castle, a captivating display with a great castle backdrop!
State Apartments
Be sure to visit the State Apartments, which display royal opulence and remarkable art collections. Audio guides are a must to elevate the experience.
St. George's Chapel
Proceed to St. George's Chapel, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture and the final resting place of British monarchs.

How many days do I need in London?
For those embarking on their next journey to London, we suggest dedicating six days to uncover the key highlights of London. This comprehensive itinerary encompasses essential attractions, a memorable day trip, and an exploration of the city's diverse neighborhoods, including Greenwich, Camden, and Kensington. Feel free to adapt our itinerary to suit a 5, 6, or 7-day London adventure. If your schedule permits, you can extend your stay in this global hub, allowing for additional day trips (see above for ideas) or continued leisurely immersion in the city's vibrant atmosphere.
If only 5 days: Pick your favorite days/activities. You can easily combine ½ day trip to Windsor with some iconic sights in central London. You can likely also save Greenwich for another trip if you are short on time.

The Oyster card is London's smart travel solution, designed to make navigating the city's extensive transport network convenient and cost-effective. This reusable contactless card offers access to buses, trams, the London Underground (Tube), the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground, and even some National Rail services.
Simply load your Oyster card with credit, and as you travel, the fare is deducted automatically. Additionally, you do not need a physical card- you can use contactless payments like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards making it even more convenient.
There is even a daily and weekly cap. As always, check online for updated information and cost details.

London weather can be unpredictable. Carry an umbrella (or pick one up from the hotel front desk) and dress in layers to adapt to changing conditions.
Credit Cards and Currency
London is predominantly a card-friendly city. Notify your bank about your travel plans to avoid any card issues. Currency exchange services can be found at airports, banks, and exchange bureaus, but avoid changing money at the airport due to less favorable rates. Using ATMs in the city is often a good way to obtain local currency.
